What to Know Before Moving to West Jordan, UT
West Jordan is one of the Salt Lake Valley's largest cities, with a wide range of homes, easy freeway and TRAX access, and a strong community feel. Here's what to know about housing, getting around, schools and daily life before you move.
Housing: plenty of choices
- Established ramblers on the east side, many with bigger lots
- Newer planned communities west of Bangerter Highway
- Townhomes and condos throughout, often near shopping
That range means first-time buyers, move-up buyers and 55+ downsizers can all find something here.
Getting around
Bangerter Highway and Mountain View Corridor run north–south through the city, and TRAX connects West Jordan to downtown Salt Lake City. Most of the valley, including Salt Lake City International Airport, is within a reasonable drive.
Schools
West Jordan is served by Jordan School District. Check school boundaries for any home you're considering, because they can change between neighborhoods.
Things to do
- Jordan Landing for shopping and dining
- Gardner Village for local shops and seasonal events
- The Jordan River Parkway and Veterans Memorial Park for getting outside
- The Western Stampede rodeo every July, which brings the whole city out
Tips if you're relocating from out of state
- Get pre-approved by a lender before you start touring.
- Decide which matters more: commute, yard size, or a newer home.
- Ask for virtual tours if you can't visit every home in person.
- Work with a local agent who knows the streets, not just the listings.
